For the most part, our school year conforms to the public school year. School starts the first Tuesday after Labour Day.  To allow for a smooth and gradual adaptation to the class environment, however, children attend class in a staggered entry process with 2-3 new children joining the classroom each day for the first week.  The adaptation period may be extended as required until the child feels comfortable. Returning children attend for normal hours from the first day onwards.  In general, our schools observe the same school holidays as do the public schools. We also have 4 professional days per year. A number of special events and activities take place during the year including Orientation Night held in September, the Christmas Concert, the Annual General Meeting of the Society, the School Picnic, and Graduation. A fundraising event and parent information meetings may also be scheduled during the year.
